ACU STEM Centre of Education Excellence Strathfield, NSW
The ACU STEM Centre of Education Excellence is a transformational opportunity for community groups, residents and industries in Western-Sydney offering a new bespoke facility with contemporary learning settings. Delivering STEM upskilling, including school programs, short courses and microcredentials, the Centre will help meet national STEM priorities and changing workforce demands.
Reinforcing Hayball’s ongoing, long-term relationship with Australian Catholic University (ACU), this project is a valued opportunity for innovation and exploring social value-adding design in the tertiary sector.
The visionary design will establish MakerSpace and Collaboration spaces, meeting, classrooms, laboratories and workshop spaces specifically designed for the delivery of STEM programs for pre-school to tertiary level. A rooftop Metaverse space with immersive technologies will engage students, staff, and the wider community.
Highly porous and promoting visibility of learning and collaboration within, the building’s design complements the significant public realm space and responds sensitively to its heritage context, adjacent the valued Edmund Rice Building and Barron Chapel.
This future -focused design approach has enabled the University to secure a substantial $45 million grant from the NSW government, paving the way for this groundbreaking educational initiative in Australia. Uniting schools with tertiary and history with contemporary progression will create a sustainable legacy.
