“Richmond High School is a model for high-density educational design that addresses the realities of urban densification, utilising a compact site vastly smaller than typical high schools. The building encapsulates the school’s pedagogical philosophy by using a central multi-level agora as a device of cross-pollination between science, technology and the arts. Combining a warm and robust material selection in a well-balanced composition of form that responds to the site and the school’s future expansion, Hayball have created a community asset which feels like an integrated whole, where all students feel connected, and part of the greater school.” – Jury Citation
