Construction is underway on The Yards, a project of two residential towers with ground level retail tenancies on the site of Brisbane’s historic RNA Showgrounds.
Setting a new sales record when released onto the market last year, The Yards is the second residential complex development as part of the regeneration of the showgrounds, which are being transformed into a thriving new inner city hub with residential, commercial and open public spaces.
Of the record-breaking sales, Lend Lease project director Andrew Hay said that The Yards’ design and location along the newly announced shopping and dining precinct of King Street made it very attractive to buyers, the majority of which were domestic investors.
“King Street is Brisbane’s newest street, and there’s a real momentum building there,” he said.
Hayball director Robert Stent said the design response draws on the character of the surrounding area for inspiration, including the RNA’s grandstand brickwork colour and textures.
“We’ve activated the building’s edges to create an urban environment reminiscent of a city streetscape, and focused on amenity to encourage neighbours to interact with each other,” he said.
