Alphington Grammar STEM Building, Student Hub & Library Alphington, VIC
As part of the School’s campus development, Hayball has delivered the School’s STEM building, a new addition which includes a new entrance to the Student hub, and a refurbished library.
Designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn through discovery and experimentation, the STEM facility comprises of multi-functional laboratories and collaborative hubs to facilitate hands-on practical activities. An extension to the outdoor deck strengthens the indoor/outdoor connection.
An environment that is suitable for both active and focused learning, the Student Hub encourages casual gathering through shared learning spaces with transition zones to accommodate for concentrated learning which requires a quieter setting. The Student Hub is visually connected to the atrium and presentation space and features an interactive stair network to promote interconnectivity and flow of movement. The refurbished library has been transformed into a modern and flexible space that enables seamless access to information, resources, and collaboration.
The ongoing regeneration of the school is being delivered in phases. Phases 1 (Entry & Amenities) and 2 (STEM & Student Hub) are complete. Phase 3 is relocating and modernising the Educational Resource Centre (ERC) which will become a focal point for learning across both Primary and Secondary years.
