Dunlop Avenue, Ascot Vale – Big Housing Built Wurundjeri Country | Ascot Vale, Victoria

The redevelopment of Dunlop Avenue delivers 200 new social and affordable homes as Stage 1 of a long-term project involving the replacement of existing walk-up buildings on the 17-hectare Ascot Vale site.

Engaged to masterplan and design the residential buildings, the site is configured with six separate 3-level buildings offering a balanced mix of private and social housing, with a high level of amenity. The buildings are embedded in a mature landscape with each building designed for equitable access to communal and private open spaces. There is a clear definition of public, communal and private spaces that encourage social interaction.

This project is part of the Victorian Government’s Big Housing Build, ensuring more Victorians have a place to call home. All residences have improved accessibility by meeting a minimum silver standard under Liveable Housing Australia (LHA) design guidelines with 5% of new social homes being DDA Accessible. The project also achieves a 5-star Green Star rating and a 7-star NatHERS average rating.
