Hayball was engaged by Sydney Living Museums (SLM) to develop a learning precinct that promoted play-based, fun and inspiring educational experiences. The design intent for the Hyde Park Barracks Museum Learning Precinct was to enable intergenerational, cross-cultural and accessible learning experiences for all ages and abilities.

Using a learner-centric approach, the resultant design incorporates a range of hands-on, purposeful and multi-model learning experiences relating to museum stories and content. Maintaining a sensitive approach to the heritage values of the site, the precinct offers engaging opportunities for indoor and outdoor object-based and interactive learning experiences, blurring the lines between education and exhibition design.
